UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires international students to demonstrate adequate financial capacity to cover tuition fees and living expenses throughout their course of study.

Tuition Fees Coverage

You must demonstrate sufficient funds to cover your first year's tuition fees (or the full course if under one year). The exact amount will be specified on your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

Inner London: £1,483/month (9mo = £13,347)
Outside London: £1,136/month (9mo = £10,224)

Permitted Deductions

What You Can Deduct

You may reduce the required funds by:

  • • Course fees already paid to the institution
  • • Up to £1,334 paid for university-provided accommodation

Note: Private accommodation payments cannot be deducted from the required amount.

Account & Documentation Requirements

Acceptable Bank Accounts

Funds must be held in either:

  • • The student's personal bank account, or
  • • The biological parent's bank account

Corporate, business, or third-party accounts are not acceptable for visa purposes.

Using Parent's Account

When using a parent's bank account, you must provide:

  • • Original birth certificate proving relationship
  • • Written sponsorship letter from parent
  • • Signed consent letter authorizing fund usage

ℹ️ Important Reminders

  • • Funds must have been held for a consecutive 28-day period ending no more than 31 days before your visa application
  • • Bank statements must clearly show your name, account number, and the financial institution's details
  • • All documents must be in English or accompanied by certified translations
  • • UKVI may request additional evidence; ensure all documentation is authentic and verifiable
